Loco for Lunch at Lelo’s Island Bar

If you consider yourself to be a burger connoisseur, then you’ll understand why Port Aransas locals and visitors alike have gone ‘loco’ for Lelo’s. This colorful little island shack has delighted my family for many meals in the past year, each bringing a big burger with big flavor. You’ll understand the appeal of these burgers in Port Aransas after the first bite has you saying, “Mmmmm, so good”!

What to order

Lelo’s offers a fairly condensed menu board and ordering is done at the end of the bar counter. After ordering, you’re free to grab a table inside or out on the patio and your food is brought to your table.

My teenagers crave the cheeseburgers, served up fresh but with no toppings, while my husband dives into the Jack & Coke burger every time. My youngest child prefers the chicken strips, while I go for either the classic cheeseburger or grilled chicken, bacon and Swiss sandwich with their delicious sweet potato fries.

Just typing that out makes me crave a burger for lunch! I like how they hand press their burgers and can rarely duplicate juiciness when I grill them, so this is the burger press I use at home.

The burgers are generous, as are the sides. While most of my family prefers the regular seasoned fries, I can’t have my burger without Lelo’s delicious sweet potato fries. They’re fried up crispy, and so good!

And don’t forget, Lelo’s is the island’s popular tiki hut with a full bar. What better way to soak up the tiki bar atmosphere than with one of Lelo’s signature island drinks? They’ve got some great colorful, fruity options and it’s fun to watch them being made at the open bar area.

What it’s like inside

While Lelo’s may look small from the street, the burger bar is warm and welcoming inside with bamboo accents along the walls and bar area. Once inside, you’ll immediately get the feel of an island tiki bar.

My family loves the 80s music videos they always have playing on the TVs inside. We all rock out and sing along while waiting for our food.

There’s plenty of high and low top tables for sitting inside for families or small groups, as well as extra seating outside on their covered deck or rear patio. The outdoor patio area is great for kids who need to wiggle and it’s dog-friendly for your four-legged children.
